FL Studio, formerly known as Fruity Loops, is making its Mac debut as a CrossOver-wrapped beta that delivers most of the Windows functionality in a near-native OS X form.

Image Line carefully points out that FL Studio for Mac doesn’t offer a native OS X experience, though it’s the next best thing to running it in Boot Camp (or a virtual machine).

Since it’s a beta, some bugs are bound to poke their head out from behind the piano roll, but the Belgian developer promises to iron them all out if enough Mac users generate demand for a native OS X build.

The interesting thing about the Mac release is that the beta is free to download and use as a full-featured demo, complete with the ability to save your progress.

The catch is that you can’t reopen your creation in the Demo version, meaning you’ll have to buy a license sooner or later, if you want to finish up that new summer hit.
