Microsoft has made available for immediate download Exchange Server 2007 Evaluation Software. Although Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 was released concomitantly with Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office System on November 30 at the NASDAQ headquarters in New York, the Redmond Company has only begun delivering the product.

"The new capabilities of Exchange Server 2007 deliver the advanced protection your company demands, the anywhere access your people want, and the operational efficiency you need. Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 provides built-in protection technologies to help keep the e-mail system up and running and better protected from outside threats while allowing employees to work from wherever they are using a variety of clients including Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Web Access, and mobile devices. Exchange Server 2007 makes it easier for IT to deliver these new capabilities to their organizations by making the messaging environment easier to manage and more cost efficient," revealed Microsoft.

Two different versions of Exchange 2007 are available for download. E2K7EN32.exe -686.7 MB and E2K7EN64.exe - 702.7 MB, for 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, respectively. Exchange Server 2007 requires that you already have the following software installed Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0, Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 3.0, Windows PowerShell, Microsoft Active Directory; applies to all server roles except for Edge Transport and Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) SP1; applies to Edge Transport server role.

Exchange Server 2007 Evaluation Software comes with a trial period of 120 days. Following the trial period, customers will be able to upgrade to either Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition $699 US or to Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise Edition $3,999US.
