The popular note-taking app Evernote has received a major update this week enabling users to share notes to LinkedIn, as well as to switch between accounts from the Evernote menu, just to name a couple of noteworthy additions.

Besides these two changes, other new things include a Tag column added to the List View, a new keyboard shortcut for strikethrough (CMD+CTRL+K), the ability to use CMD+Shift+D to insert dates when the cursor is in the title area, and a larger clickable area for Activity Stream items.

There’s more. You can now select multiple lines and click the checkbox option to add checkboxes quickly, and the Activity Feed now combines recent events.

The app now has Retina-optimized icons for Preferences (for owners of Apple’s newest MacBook Pro), and includes fixes for numerous Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion bugs that caused crashes and other types of issues.

Last but not least, Evernote 3.3.0 now shows more consistent results when searches contain quotes.

“Evernote helps millions worldwide remember anything and everything that happens in their lives,” says the company with the same name.

“Use Evernote to take notes, save interesting web pages, create to-dos and shopping lists, attach images and PDFs, and so much more. Then, watch as it all instantly synchronizes from your Mac to your smartphone, tablet and the Web, allowing you to find your memories at any time from anywhere,” says Evernote.

For those who haven’t used Evernote before, the company offers a few scenarios in which the application can become extremely useful, including: research, meeting and class notes; for saving interesting webpages for later access, even offline; to capture ideas and design inspiration; to easily find notes made on your phone; and to search through photos of different stuff.
