Developed by the company with the same name, Evernote lets you capture stuff like webpages, whiteboards, scribbles, to-dos, photos and even music files, and keep them in a safe place for easy access, across all your devices.

Using the service, available in both free and paid form, you can tag your new additions, or add small notes to them, after which they are easily searchable. One of Evernote's flagship features is its ability to read text inside images, a feature called "text-recognition." It can even read handwritten notes, so, basically, all you have to do is just search for an item inside Evernote just like you remember it. The service is available for Mac, Windows PC and several mobile platforms.

The main features of Evernote include the ability to create notes containing text and audio, find printed and handwritten text within images, clip web content directly into Evernote, capture screenshots, and ultimately synchronize your notes among all the desktop and mobile versions you use.

For Evernote version 1.4.5 for Mac OS X, the developers replaced notebook publishing options with a link to the new advanced notebook sharing features on Evernote Web, added support for future service search-indexing enhancements, as well as a "Quit" item to the menubar elephant, which causes the main application to quit and the menubar elephant to disappear. A sync error handling was also addressed. Fixed bugs include one that caused a crash during thumbnail generation, and a sync bug that resulted in the message "mime is a required value" being continuously displayed.

The iPhone client of Evernote has also seen some changes recently. New additions such as Landscaping, Thumbnail view, the ability to sort favorite notes and an embedded browser can be found in Evernote for iPhone. Using the links below, you can download both the desktop and the mobile client of the application for free.
