Virtual Programming has announced the launch of Europa Universalis III: Divine Wind for Mac OS X, a DLC pack marking the fourth expansion of the classic historical strategy game Europa Universalis III.

According to the developers, the expansion enhances every important element in Europa Universalis III.

“At the demand of the devout fanbase, this is the 4th expansion of the classic historical strategy game Europa Universalis III,” Paradox Interactive says. “Enhancing every aspect of the game to create an even deeper and more rewarding experience.”

Features include a new graphical style, with detailed and beautiful map, including lots of new provinces, the ability to play as any of the four major daimyo’s in Japan and compete for influence over the Emperor and control over the Shogunate, and enhanced diplomacy (more options for alliances and peace negotiation).

In addition to these elements, the DLC also brings dozens of new culture-specific types of buildings, where players have greater control over the development of their provinces.

Development of trade is now more realistic, with bonuses being awarded for control over strategic resources.

Player can manage the internal factions in China to keep the Mandate of Heaven, and have over 50 achievements to unlock, according to Paradox Interactive.

Requirements include an Intel CPU, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher, graphics cards including GeForce 7300, Radeon 2400, or newer (Radeon X1600/X1900, Intel GMA cards not supported) with at least 128Mb VRAM, 1GB free disk space, 512 MB RAM, and Europa Universalis III Complete (New Version) and Europa Universalis III Heir to the Throne.

A broadband connection is required for Internet play and registration.

Gamers who have an older version of EU III Complete are advised to download the latest version (via the same distribution channel used to make the initial purchase) and then migrate their old code at: http://www.vpltd.com/codemigrate.
