With spring well upon us and April Fools' Day behind, it’s time to look elsewhere for something to make us smile and brighten our day.

Fortunately, we won’t have to look too far, since the newly released theme for Windows 7 will actually suffice.

We’re referring here to the Ducklings theme that all owners of PCs running under Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate editions can now download and enjoy.

Just as its name suggests, it will deliver high-resolution images of baby ducks to your PC’s screen, making you smile regardless, whether you’re an adult or a child.

Moreover, like all of the other themes for Windows 7, the new pack of images was made available for free download, so that all users around the globe could get a taste of it.

“They’re fuzzy; they’re sleeping and waddling; they’re peeping and swimming and impossibly cute! Make way for this adorable free theme for Windows 7,” Microsoft explains.

Moreover, the company warns that “downloading this theme may cause people to stand over your shoulder making baby talk.”

You can see some of the images included in the theme attached to this article. There are some more high-resolution backgrounds inside it, but we’ll let you discover them on your own. They are sure to bring at least a smile on your face.

Although meant for Windows 7 machines, the Ducklings Theme can be downloaded and installed on PCs running under Windows 8 Consumer Preview as well.

Other themes designed for Windows 7 work on the new OS too, including themes such as Kinect Rush: A Disney•Pixar Adventure and Kinect: Disneyland Adventures themes, Microsoft Flight: Hawaiian Adventure, or the Rainbows Theme that Microsoft made available for download for its users during the past few weeks. Older themes work on Windows 8 CP as well.
