Dropbox launched today a new update for the experimental version of their file synchronization application.

Version 1.7.6 has a smaller installer/downloader for Windows and does away with a bug that caused McAfee to report that Dropbox is attempting to terminate its process. Also fixed is a problem with notifications not moving away when updated.

This release also adds support for file type images and thumbnails in pop-up notifications. Furthermore, comprehensive error messages are now displayed when taking an action on a notification fail.

Another entry in the change log announces that older recently changed files data is migrated to the new popup.

On Mac systems, the developer eliminated an issue related to Finder, where overlays are not being updated as soon as Dropbox starts.
