Cloud storage / sync service Dropbox is featuring a new Experimental release for Mac users this weekend. This beta-grade 2.1.8 update patches a few nasty bugs, but probably not all of them.

Dropbox 2.1.8 Experimental is immediately available for testers on OS X platforms with a number of bug fixes, some more important than others.

For instance, the update fixes a minor issue affecting files with extended attributes, but also a more serious bug that caused “excessive CPU usage when files are changed remotely.”

The new Dropbox has better handling of certain Unicode path names, and patches a separate bug that also caused excessive CPU usage. Other minor fixes are also included in this release.

The latest stable version of Dropbox (2.0.5) along with this new Experimental release can be downloaded for free at the link below.
