Dolphin Browser 5.2 is now available for download on Apple’s App Store with tons of new features and enhancements, including options to save preferences for a single tab, bookmarklet support, cache cleaning, background music support, and more.

Released for both iPhone and iPad, the updated application brings numerous changes that apply to both platforms, as well as specific features for each type of hardware.

For example, both iPhone and iPad customers get a new option to save preferences for a new tab (open in current, background or new tab), the ability to add a bookmarklet to the bookmark bar for quick selection (bookmarklet support), a much-needed option to pause and resume downloads, and a Clear-Cache option to erase your browsing tracks.

iPhone users in particular further get an audio enhancement that allows music to play in the background on Dolphin when you are in other apps, and iPhone dialing when the user taps a link of a phone number on a web page.

A Google image issue has been fixed, and users can now quickly enable/disable images on websites for faster loading, these being two more iPhone-only updates. Various other stability and performance improvements have been included as well.

A couple of iPad-only additions are also documented, including AirPrint compatibility, which enables users to print any page from their iPad via a wireless connection. You need a supported, AirPlay-enabled printer, of course.

The second change deals with audio: “music will not play in the background no matter which tab you are open to,” according to the release notes.

Dolphin Browser for iPhone is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later. Dolphin Browser for iPad is only compatible with the tablet device and has the same minimum iOS requirement.
