People running Windows applications on their Mac using CrossOver have a new version to download and install. The new CrossOver 11.1.0 supports the newly-released Diablo III video game and adds a smoother installation process for Microsoft Office along with several fixes related to printing.
Printing has been fixed for Project 2007, and the error saving certain documents in Excel 2010 has been addressed, says CodeWeavers, the developer of CrossOver.
Printing now honors duplex settings and fixes to non-letter sized paper. Some improvements have been made in the Spanish department.
CodeWeavers has further addressed an error where IE6 in a Win98 bottle would complain it was not registered, and one which would cause CrossOver's 'Welcome' screen not to appear in some situations on Mac OS X Lion.
A problem which caused Windows applications to have slightly fewer graphics shaders available than they could have has been dealt with also. This particular flaw could produce graphics glitches in games, according to the changelog.
Customers need an Intel-based Macintosh running Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or later (Lion is recommended), 120 MB of free disk space.
CodeWeavers asks customers to note that CrossOver v. 11 is the final version that will support Leopard (10.5.x).
“Which solution is right for you depends on your budget, technical savviness, and pain threshold. Individuals with technical skills may prefer the free route. Many business users, though, find a packaged, tested solution more productive and economical. If you value stability and superior integration, then CrossOver is a better fit for you,” says CodeWeavers.
“If you do choose to purchase CrossOver, you can feel good knowing that you've indirectly supported the Wine Project,” the company adds. “Every improvement we make to Wine goes back to the Wine Project, which makes the computing world more open and compatible for everyone.” Download CrossOver Mac XI (Free)
