It has been revealed recently that Electronic Arts has a surprise for all of you Command & Conquer fans out there. According to 1UP.com, Command & Conquer Gold is up for grabs on the game's official website. But why? Well, Electronic Arts has decided that 12 years of standing out of the crowd with the old RTS is reason enough to treat its fans.

According to the previously mentioned website, "ISOs for both the GDI and NOD discs can be downloaded and burned onto a CD, giving anyone who hasn't yet checked out the franchise a chance to do so at its very beginning." But wait. There's more. Community manager Aaron Kaufman promises that more goodies will be popping up on the game's official website throughout the month.

The latest Command & Conquer installment, as everyone knows, is Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. If you're a newcomer to the series, start downloading Command & Conquer Gold and in the meantime check out this interview of Mike Verdu, VP and Executive Producer at EA Los Angeles, to see exactly why the company decided to start up work on Kane's Wrath and what it brings to the series:

"The reaction to Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars has been tremendous. Fans and critics alike appreciated the combination of fast, fluid, and fun RTS game play with a deep story and the classic full-motion video sequences that are a hallmark of the Command & Conquer series," said Mike Verdu, VP and Executive Producer at EA Los Angeles (EALA). "I'm excited that we're able to return to the Tiberium universe with Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. This expansion has an impressive new single player campaign, a new global strategic layer that adds depth to the familiar Command & Conquer style gameplay, and several fun, all-new toys that range from versatile combat soldiers to giant armoured walkers."
