Microsoft's codename Mojave is available for download as a Community Technology Preview. However, the users will not get their hands on Windows Mojave, an initiative that put the codename on the map, but on Commerce Server 2009 instead. The Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 - December 2008 Community Technology Preview - DVD ISO Image File is now available for download, with Microsoft applauding what it referred to as the first feature-complete preview of the next iteration of Commerce Server. According to the company's Tom Schultz, the CTPs of Commerce Server 2009 were initially labeled as Commerce Server 2007 codename Mojave.

“Commerce Server 2009 delivers the ability to increase your business reach by making it possible to sell via multiple channels using an out-of-the-box shopping site, SharePoint Commerce Services, and the Multi-Channel Commerce Foundation.”

“The new out-of-the-box shopping site leverages SharePoint Commerce Services, which provides a gallery of ASP.NET 3.5 Web Parts, a comprehensive e-commerce shopping feature-set, and technology integration between Commerce Server and SharePoint technologies. The Multi-Channel Commerce Foundation provides a new unified, extensible run-time programming model for Commerce Server, including new run-time e-commerce capabilities,” Schultz stated.

According to Microsoft, Commerce Server 2009 brings to the table in-place upgrade capabilities for previous releases of the solution. At the same time, version 2009 is more than just an update package from Commerce Server 2007. In this regard, Commerce Server 2009 delivers a fully-featured, out-of-the-box e-commerce shopping site in SharePoint. Microsoft indicated that customers would be able to take advantage of enhanced search capabilities, shopping features, and new content management capacities.

“We invite you to install this pre-release version of Commerce Server 2009 into a non-production environment, preferably on a clean machine, to learn more about the Multi-Channel Commerce Foundation and SharePoint Commerce Services. This release is for evaluation purposes only, and is not intended to be used in a production environment.”
