Updated to version 1.5.2 just recently, CleanMyMac has received yet another maintenance update incorporating both improvements and bug fixes. One of the most noteworthy additions is the optimization of CleanMyMac files and code to reduce its size.

CleanMyMac can delete useless files that pile up over time and waste valuable disk space, as well as slow down the system. Unlike simpler "cleaning" solutions, CleanMyMac combines features such as the ability to slim down Universal Binaries, delete unneeded languages, logs and Caches, Quick Erase, application uninstallation, and the ability to fully erase trash left from buried applications. With CleanMyMac installed and run periodically, your computer will work faster and smoother.

With the release of CleanMyMac 1.5.2, MacPaw added the ability to rebuild the Launch Services database, explaining that this feature could fix possible issues caused by the uninstallation of certain applications (e.g. broken file associations, duplicates in the Finder's "Open with..." list). The app’s error reporting has also been improved, according to MacPaw. Moreover, the developer has successfully tested compatibility with recent Snow Leopard builds.

With version 1.5.3 out, MacPaw can confirm the following improved areas.

· Enhanced general application stability. · Improved progress bars work. · Optimized CleanMyMac files and code to reduce its size. · Improved tables and outlines redrawing performance.

As far as fixes are concerned, MacPaw has been able to fix most of the reported Exceptions and errors; a crash in the Spanish version when choosing the "Extension" tab; a crash when the user tries to run uninstalling from the "About" screen; a crash caused by the application updater (updated Sparkle) and a crash when removing some Login Items. The maker of CleanMyMac has also improved the application’s ability to quit.

A demo version of CleanMyMac is available for free download using the link below. A license for the software costs $29.95 (lifetime). CleanMyMac 2 is also on its way, "using the latest technologies and amazing design," MacPaw claims. All existing customers will be able to upgrade to CleanMyMac 2 for free.
