The stable version of Google Chrome 16 is here, for all supported platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame). The big news is that the new stable release comes with support for multiple profiles, a feature that yesterday was available only in beta and dev channels.

“Multiple profiles” option allows you to run a personalized instance of Google Chrome and synchronize your bookmarks, settings, apps, Omnibox history and extensions. It won’t keep your data safe from prying eyes but you’ll benefit from the same Chrome environment as soon as you log into the browser.

You can sign into the browser straight from the “Wrench” menu and new users can be added either from the “Personal Stuff” section of the configuration panel or from the profile menu.

Additional changes for the current stable release (16.0.912.63) include, as usual, security fixes. Improvement of the synchronization service is also on the list, as database load failures are handled better.
