Download Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Patch 1.7.1 for Mac

Aspyr Media has released a new patch for players of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The company responsible for publishing various Windows titles on the Macintosh platform notes that the patch bringing Call of Duty 4 to version 1.7.1 is for the digital download version of the game only, and supports English only. An older patch is available for foreign versions of COD 4.

From Aspyr's Support section, the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Patch 1.7.1 description goes:

This patch is for the DIGITAL DOWNLOAD VERSION OF THE GAME ONLY.
IF YOU HAVE A DISC COPY OF THE GAME PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE OTHER PATCH.
THIS PATCH IS FOR THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THE GAME ONLY!

According to Aspyr, this is an official update for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which updates any downloaded version of the game to version 1.7.1. Gamers must install the patch to bring their Mac version of the game up to the current PC version so that they will be able to continue shooting each other online. Enhancements included with the patch are:

· Shadows are now enabled for ATI video cards.
· Improved Anti-Aliasing performance on most NVIDIA video cards.

Call of Duty 4 is best known for its community-oriented multiplayer gameplay, which features a robust leveling system, a variety of unlockable perks, hot-join and matchmaking, as well as the ability to create a class and party. Developed by renowned game maker Infinity Ward, the first-person shooter includes a fan favorite feature created in Call of Duty 2, called “Kill-Cam,” allowing instant replays in spectator mode.

Those who wish to pick up on the game should know that minimum system requirements call for a Mac packing an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2.0 GHz), Mac OS X 10.5.4 (Leopard), 1 GB RAM 8.0 GB + 1 GB Swap File hard disk space, 128 MB video memory, DVD-ROM. For multiplayer, the game requires a broadband connection. Supported Video cards include: NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800, NVIDIA GeForce Quadro FX 4500, ATI Radeon X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600. Aspyr itself says that “players are enlisted into one of the most photo-realistic gaming experiences imaginable,” so make sure you pack the specs listed above.
