Matt Housh announced on November 25th the immediate availability for download of the CRUX 2.7.1 Linux operating system, which comes with a new kernel and a few updated packages.

CRUX 2.7.1 is now powered by Linux kernel 2.6.39.4 and incorporates updates such as GNU C Library 2.12.2, GNU Binutils 2.20.1 and GNU Compiler Collection 4.5.3.

CRUX 2.7.1 also includes various ports updates, but without the incompatible changes.

"'Interim' release means that this release is meant to facilitate upgrades or new installs by saving time that would be taken up by updating quite a few out-of-date packages."

"This also means that current users of CRUX 2.7 with updated packages do not need to upgrade or reinstall!" - said Matt Housh in the official announcement.
