Boxee has launched an iPad app that takes the work out of finding, viewing, and sharing online video by bringing videos from your friends and your computer into one interface on your tablet device.

Boxee is a cross-platform freeware Home Theater PC (HTPC) solution with a 10-foot user interface and social networking features.

It has been designed for the living-room TV and enables users to view, rate and recommend content to their friends through a multitude of interactive media related features, as well as social networking.

Boxee, however, does lack the ability to watch and record live TV received over-the-air, or via cable or satellite signals.

According to its creators, “Boxee for iPad brings videos from Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and your computer all onto your iPad so you can find and watch new videos or favorites on the train, in bed, on the couch, on the john, during boring conversation, on the patio, from the roof deck, in an abandoned bunker, on the side of a mountain….”

Boxee delivers every video your friends share on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr to your device, and allows you to collect them in one place.

You can watch them when they arrive or save them for later.

Boxee for iPad lets you “queue YouTube videos, TED talks, and, well, whatever you want to watch on your iPad, whenever you want. Your commute just got its own video playlist,” according to the developers.

Instead of having to convert videos, you can just stream them from your Mac or PC to your iPad over WiFi.

And if you want to put your content on the big screen, you don’t necessarily need a $99 Apple TV and AirPlay, but you will need the Boxee Box

“Send videos straight to your TV via a Boxee Box so everyone in your living room can enjoy. Now you can go back to playing Angry Birds on the iPad while you watch,” according to Boxee Inc.
