Download Bean 3.2.4 for Mac

Developer James Hoover has released an update to his simple word processing application for Mac OS X, Bean 3.2.4. The new version doesn’t deliver any new features, but it does squash some nasty bugs.

If you’re the type who loves a clean word processor, you may have been acquainted with Bean. Arguably one of the simplest and most stable word apps on the Mac, Bean 3.2.4 fixes a bug that prevented attachments with non-ASCII characters in their filenames to save correctly in .rtfd and .bean format.

The update further alters the .rtf image decoding code in order to accommodate image hex data preceded by a newline.

Finally, the new release addresses a bug where a paragraph starting with an image could lose its paragraph attributes, when opening .rtf files.

Hoover provides an example, saying “if a cell in a text table contained only an image, the image would be removed from the table since text tables are really paragraph attributes.”
