Feral Interactive announced the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum for Macintosh. The action-adventure game is available both as a retail hard-copy and online through digital download partners and the Mac App Store, Feral said.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment with DC Entertainment.

It’s available for game consoles and PC, and now for MAc OS X, featuring an original story by Paul Dini, Batman writer and five-time Emmy Award-winner.

In the game, players find themselves trapped inside (you guessed it!) Arkham Asylum, Gotham’s psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane.

“This unique, dark and atmospheric adventure game puts players right in the action as they take the role of The Dark Knight and use a wide variety of moves and gadgets to foil The Joker’s demented scheme,” according to Feral.

Animated Batman voice talents Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy reprise their roles as The Joker and Batman respectively, adding to the authenticity of the game.

Batman: Arkham Asylum for the Mac is immediately available in NorthAmerica for US $39.99, in the UK for £29.99, and throughout Europe for €34.99.

Mac users can also download a digital copy of the game from a variety of digital partner sites of Feral’s. The Mac App Store also hosts the title.

Minimum system requirements are: a Mac with a 2.0 GHz Intel processor; at least 2 GB RAM; 128 MB or better graphics card; Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.

As Mac gamers should already know, many games don’t work with some graphics cards, of which Batman: Arkham Asylum doesn’t go with ATI X1xxx series, NVIDIA 9400, NVIDIA 7xxx series and Intel GMA series.

Cards that require you to have 4GB of system RAM include NVIDIA 320M, and Intel HD 3000.
