Apple has released a new version of its Configurator tool for OS X, an app which makes it easy for administrators to mass-configure and deploy iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices in organizations.

Apple Configurator is a tool Apple deployed about a year ago to enable large organizations and businesses to set up new devices, install apps, and enroll iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch units.

Apple Configurator 1.3 was released to deliver improvements and bug fixes, including “significantly improved reliability, scalability and performance,” according to the Cupertino giant.

The updated app displays a new status view with time estimates and error information with recovery suggestions, and can now cancel scheduled or in-progress operations, as well as install apps on devices that have been configured to prevent users from manually installing software on them.
