Rovio Entertainment has just released the new version of its popular Angry Birds game called Star Wars.

In addition to the dedicated builds aimed at iOS, Android and Windows Phone (a version for this one will be released soon) platforms, Angry Birds Star Wars is also available for Windows consumers still using the traditional desktop PC or a laptop.

Rovio claims that desktop users should be running Windows XP SP2, Vista or Windows 7 to install the game, but we’ve tested it on Windows 8 and everything runs pretty smoothly.

This isn’t the full game, but just a playable demo that allows you to try out some stages and decide whether it’s worth buying the latest Angry Birds iteration or not.

The full game can be purchased for no less than $6.5 (€5) straight from the official Rovio website.

Update: Angry Birds Star Wars version 1.1.0 is now available. Click here for download links.
