The larger Nexus slate jumps on the KitKat bandwagon

With the Nexus 7 2013 and Nexus 2012 KitKat OTA updates having been released into the wild, it’s time for the Nexus 10 to join the KitKat party as well.

Owners of the larger Nexus slate don’t have to wait for their tablet to alert them that it’s time to update. Use the link below, download the 219MB KRT160 Android 4.4 build and flash (no matter what rooting/bootloader situation is.)

As with the Nexus 7, you will have to have the Android SDK installed, which contains the latest version of adb and fastboot. You can update with the help of a MicroUSB cable, needed to execute adb sideload, fastboot flash and more. Downloading the OTA directly on the device and flashing it from recovery will eliminate the need for the USB cable.

Android 4.3 JWR66Y must be installed on the Nexus 10 for the update to be performed.

Download the zip and then adb sideload the file. In case something goes wrong, you can try restoring the changed system files. If that fails as well, you’ll have to wait for the factory image.
