Samsung Fascinate, the Galaxy S device that Verizon Wireless customers have the possibility to purchase on their carrier's airwaves, is among those devices that still runs under the Android 2.1 operating system flavor, although Samsung started to push Android 2.2 Froyo to other Galaxy S devices since several months ago.

However, it seems that the mobile phone maker, along with the wireless carrier, are working on the building and deploying an Android 2.2 Froyo software update for the device, one that would be set to land at an undetermined moment in the future.

Fascinate owners who have certainly grown tired of waiting for the software update to be released, though it should be delivered to them, eventually, have now the possibility to download and install an unofficial flavor of the OS upgrade on their devices.

This is said to be the very same Samsung Fascinate Android 2.2 Froyo ROM that leaked into the wild several days ago, though we did not have the chance to see it at that time.

Downloading and installing the ROM would void warranty of the handset, since this is not an official release, so those willing to give it a try should take this aspect into consideration. Moreover, as should note that the ROM is pre-rooted.

Another important aspect of that should be noted here is that the ROM is buggy, and that those who would try it out would be hit with these issues.

The Froyo ROM for Samsung Fascinate emerged over at the XDA-Developers forum, and the member who posted info on it suggests that users should consider trying out a custom ROM for the device, and not this leaked software, since the former would be more stable.

All in all, the fact that this ROM leaked shows that Samsung might bring the Android 2.2 Froyo to Fascinate in the near future, so more info on the official release might emerge shortly. All the necessary info on the leaked ROM can be found on the said post at XDA-Developers.
