Amazon is offering a new software application called Send to Kindle. As its name implies, the app lets you send personal documents to your Kindle from your Mac, wirelessly.

Users can drag and drop one or more documents on to the Send to Kindle icon in the OS X Dock, or launch the application and drag-and-drop documents on to it, and have them synced across their registered Kindle devices, including iPhones and iPads with the Amazon Kindle app installed.

From any Mac application that can print, users can select the print menu, or from the Finder, they can simply control-click on one or more documents and choose Send to Kindle.

Users can also create document archives in their Kindle library, and then re-download them whenever they please.

Amazon thoroughly explains to customers that “When you download and install, Send to Kindle will appear on your Dock. Send to Kindle will also appear when you control-click on a file from Finder or in the print dialog of any Mac application.”

“You can download archived personal documents from your Kindle Library on Kindle Keyboard, Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle for Android, Kindle for iPad, Kindle for iPhone and Kindle for iPod touch.”

“Whispersync of notes, highlights, bookmarks along with last page read is available on your archived personal documents that have been converted into Kindle format,” says Amazon.

Send to Kindle system requirements include a Mac with a 500 MHz Intel processor or faster, at least 512MB of RAM, 100MB of available disk space, and Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard) or Mac OS X v10.7 (Lion).

Note: Developer Klip.me also has a "Send to Kindle" solution for Mac users. It is unclear whether Amazon and Klip.me have worked out an agreement to leave the latter's application named identically. So far, both solutions are available under the same name.
