Adobe has officially unveiled the mobile version of its powerful Lightroom editing software available as part of Adobe Creative Cloud, which now includes Photoshop, Lightroom, and Lightroom Mobile for $9.99 (€7.27) per month.

As you’d imagine, the mobile Lightroom app brings some of the key Lightroom tools to the iPad, such as non-destructive processing, as well as new Smart Preview technologies. A powerful synchronization architecture designed specifically for photos offers customers the most efficient way to edit images across devices.

Available as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop Photography Program ($9.99 / €7.27) Lightroom Mobile is free to download on any iPad that can handle iOS 7, according to the specs sheet.

Winston Hendrickson, vice president products, Creative Media Solutions, Adobe, says, “With the launch of Lightroom mobile, we’ve unlocked professional-class photographic workflows from the confines of the desktop. Lightroom and Photoshop redefined digital photography on the desktop and now, photographers can perfect images, wherever they are and, via Creative Cloud, seamlessly synchronize them back to their desktop catalog.”

Lightroom 5 features making their way onto the iPad include the ability to sync mobile edits, metadata and collection changes, automatically import images captured on an iPad, work on images offline, sync photos between Lightroom 5 and Lightroom mobile.

Users can edit raw files from DSLR cameras using Smart Previews, edit images from the iPad’s camera roll, and enhance images using familiar Lightroom tools and presets.

Jeff Carlson, educator and author of The iPad for Photographers and Adobe Lightroom mobile: Your Lightroom on the Go, believes Lightroom for iPad benefits creatives whose inspiration kicks in one the move.

“Adobe Lightroom mobile transforms the way I am able to work with my photographs because now I can review and process photos when I'm comfortable and creative, and not just when I’m at my computer,” said Carlson.

“It also works as a malleable photo portfolio on my iPad. As I add or remove images from a collection in Lightroom mobile or on the computer, the changes stay synchronized. When I need to show my work those photos are already set up to be viewed.”

Supported languages include English, French, German, and Japanese. Considering the software requirement (iOS 7.0), compatible hardware should include iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display. Adobe unfortunately doesn’t mention a list of compatible iPads, though support should be ensured for at least iPad third generation (or the first iPad with Retina display).
