AMD may have recently unveiled its newest driver but, as usual, there are some errors that may emerge on certain AGP graphics cards, so the outfit also unleashed a hotfix, so that users may circumvent the issue.

End-users, at least some of them, probably know that Advanced Micro Devices recently released is newest batch of APUs (accelerated processing units).

Said APUs are the Fusion-based A-Series, otherwise known as Llano, and are intended for the mainstream market.

Said chips have integrated graphics with mid-range capabilities, all belonging to the Radeon HD 6000 series (DirectX 11 is supported).

Needless to say, since this means a new bunch of video solutions are now up and about, AMD had to unveil a new driver version as well.

Said driver is the Catalyst 11.6 package and was covered in detail here. It installs the driver itself, the Control Center and the HydraVision technology, among other things.

The same software also fixes some issues in regards to game performance and visuals, plus other bugs, besides enhancing performance in several games.

All this, of course, is no different form what previous driver versions did. Unfortunately, the same goes for the drawbacks.

Simply put, errors can arise when trying to install the driver on systems with AGP graphics cards from the AMD Radeon HD 4xxx series, the Radeon HD 3xxx line or the Radeon HD 2xxx collection.

Essentially, a “No Compatible Hardware Found” message pops up upon attempting to install the driver. Problems in regards to DirectX van also arise on the same board models.

To remedy this, the Sunnyvale, California-based company offers hotfixes, one for each supported version of Windows. They can be downloaded below.
