NVIDIA may have released a whole new driver to mark the occasion of the launch of Battlefield 3, but Advanced Micro Devices didn't let the occasion pass by either, even if it did settle for just a hotfix, for now.

The past couple of months were not lacking in rumors, reports and official announcements about Battlefield 3, a new first-person shooter from Electronic Arts.

Set to be released as an open Beta on September 29 (2011), it is described as a title just as important to EA as FIFA.

Apparently, video card makers feel the game is, indeed, deserving of some special attention on their part.

As such, NVIDIA launched the GeForce 285.38 BETA Driver and, now, Advanced Micro Devices also released a software meant to boost performance in that game.

The Sunnyvale, California-based outfit settled for a hotfix though, one for just Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit.

It is intended for the AMD Radeon HD 6000 and Radeon HD 5000 series single-GPU (graphics processing unit) configurations.

One thing it accomplishes is to improve frame rates in the game on both applications enabled Anti-Aliasing and non-Anti-Aliasing.

Another feature is a similar performance increase on multi-GPU Crossfire configurations, also on the 6000 and 5000 lines.

Furthermore, it should be possible to set up 5x1 Eyefinity multi-monitor scenarios and, via the Vision Engine Control Center, feast their eyes on new and enhanced interface enhancements.

During such setups, the monitors can be placed in either portrait or landscape positions, to suit a broader range of tastes.

The link below is where owners of a Radeon video controller need to go in order to download the Catalyst 11.10 Hotfix (a full driver should show up sooner or later). As for actually installing it, this page should have all necessary information.
