Since it's been a while since AMD last updated its Catalyst graphics drivers for its Radeon GPUs, the company has just gone official with the latest release, 11.1, that offers a few interesting fixes and updates that will enable your graphics cards to deliver an enhanced level of performance in certain situations. The new drivers will apply to all of the Radeon HD graphics cards out there (whether we're talking about desktop, mobile or FireStream models), and, as usual, is available for you to download right here on Softpedia, whether your machine is running Windows XP (download here), Windows XP 64-bit (download here) , Windows Vista /Windows 7 32-bit (download here) or Windows Vista / Windows 7 64-bit (download here).

According to AMD, the new set of drivers will bring about some interesting improvements to both the AMD display driver, and the AMD Catalyst Control Center, but also some noticeable performance boosts in certain game titles, especially those running on AMD Radeon HD 6900 and AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series GPUs.

Additional fixes (at least as far as the Windows 7 operating system is concerned), include the fact that the system no longer crashes when enabling Crossfire with 2 monitors connected to the primary card and 2 monitors connected to the secondary card, while the list of supported TV resolutions now includes 1080p 24Hz (if supported by the TV display).

Plus, as an extra bonus, the “Host Application not responding” error message is no longer randomly displayed when launching the AMD Catalyst Control Center.

Additional improvements are also available for the Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems, but if you want to find out more details on these topics, we strongly encourage you to check out the release notes provided by AMD and available on each download page mentioned above.
