Five months after the previous Community Technology Preview Build of the ADO.NET Entity Framework Feature, Microsoft has made available for download a new testing release. Microsoft ADO.NET Entity Framework Feature Community Technology Preview 5 went live on the Download Center on December 6th, 2010 where early adopters can grab it free of charge, just as it was the case with all past CTP releases of the technology.

“This CTP is an early preview of the Code First Programming Model and Productivity Improvements for Entity Framework 4 (included in.NET Framework 4),” the software giant explained.

As some developers undoubtedly know, the Entity Framework 4 is included into .NET Framework 4, which shipped in the first half of 2010 along with Visual Studio 2010.

ADO.NET Entity Framework Feature brings to the table a set of features that build on top of what .NET 4’s Entity Framework 4 has to offer.

According to information from the Redmond company, work is being done to wrap up the ADO.NET Entity Framework Feature.

As with past preview releases, Microsoft is looking to get as much testing done in order to proceed to the next development milestone.

And by the looks of it, the Redmond company is now pushing for the RTM (release to manufacturing) of ADO.NET Entity Framework Feature.

“Entity Framework Feature CTP 5 is a preview of the features included –as such, there are known limitations. Please keep this in mind as you use the features in Entity Framework Feature CTP 5,” the company said.

“Entity Framework Feature CTP5 includes some significant internal refactoring in preparation for some features we intend to support in the future.

“We are still in the process of stabilizing the quality after this refactoring, but we decided to release before we finished this stabilization to get CTP5 in your hands as soon as possible and give ample time to incorporate feedback before we RTM.”
