14 DAY TRIAL // TotalIdea rolled out a fresh update for their replacement start button for Windows 8 and 8.1, 8StartButton, incrementing the build number to 2.4.1. This revision features mostly improvements and optimizations.
Starting this release, pressing the left Windows key for the first time triggers the display of an informational screen that explains how the application works.
Along with internal improvements and code optimizations, 8StartButton 2.4.1 brings back the second tile of the 'Computer' start tile, which had disappeared in a previous version of the program.
Also fixed is an issue that caused a custom start button not to be painted correctly under certain circumstances, on Windows 8.1 RTM.
8StartButton ($9.95 / 8.23 EUR) includes a file browser, an area for showing a list of recent documents and recent programs.
