A new Beta Refresh Build of Firefox 6 is now available for download and testing. This is the fourth update of Firefox 6 that Mozilla pushes through the Beta Channel, as the development process continues. I told you at the start of this week that Mozilla had provided early adopters with the Firefox 6.0b4 candidate Builds through its FTP servers, and that the fully-fledged Beta refresh was bound not to be all that far behind.

Now testers can grab the fourth Firefox 6 Beta refresh and start testing the release, as it has been launched officially by the open source browser vendor.

Mozilla is keeping mum on Firefox 6.0b4, offering no details about the latest Beta Channel update. And there’s no use checking the release notes for this particular Build.

This because the official Firefox 6 Beta Release Notes have pretty much remained unchanged since Firefox 5’s successor graduated from Aurora. In fact, as an exercise, users can change 6.0b4 in the release notes link with anything they please, say 6.0b100, and the link will still work.

But then again, due to the fast release pace of new major Firefox iterations, users should not expect massive changes from version to version, let alone from one Beta Refresh to the next.

With the fourth Beta Refresh, Mozilla is one step closer to finalizing Firefox 6. According to the official release schedule made public by the open source browser vendor, Firefox 6 will move to the Release Channel on August 16th, 2011.

It’s unlikely that this will also be the release deadline for Firefox 6 Final, but the actual launch will indeed happen in mid-August.

As of the end of July, Mozilla was planning to build the last Firefox 6 Beta by the end of this week, a milestone equivalent to the Release Candidate (RC) Build.
