14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has updated the Windows Personalization Gallery with a couple of new themes designed to help Windows 7 users celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
The “Super Prosperous Year of the Rabbit” and “Year of the Rabbit” are now available for download free of charge, courtesy of the Redmond company.
“The Year of the Rabbit is here. Prepare your desktop for prosperity by downloading a free Windows 7 theme, featuring quirky rabbit images by artist Huang, Yun Hsien,” reads the description of the Super Prosperous Year of the Rabbit theme.
I included screenshots of both themes at the bottom of this article, and users should check them out .
Of course, since both theme packs are available for free, customers running Windows 7 could also just go ahead and download the two themes and install them in order to view the contents.
There are a total of 10 wallpapers packaged into the two themes, six in the “Year of the Rabbit” and another four in “Super Prosperous Year of the Rabbit.”
The desktop backgrounds included into the theme packs are bound to bring inspire a celebratory feeling via Windows 7 computers, to welcome the Year of the Rabbit.
In case you were wondering, today, February 3rd, 2011 marked the debut of the Year of the Rabbit across Asia.
In the Chinese zodiac, the rabbit is the 4th animal from a total of 12, and yes, Microsoft also provided tiger-based themes for Windows 7 to celebrate the Year of the Tiger which just ended.
In Chinese folklore there is a close connection between the rabbit and the moon. According to local myths, the Moon Goddess has the Jade Rabbit as her companion.
In the Chinese Zodiac the rabbit is succeeded by the dragon, and it will be interesting to see what new Windows 7 personalization content will Microsoft be providing next, in this context.
