Double Fine Productions, the independent game developer led by famous designer Tim Schafer, has now collected over $1.2 million (around €900,000) in funding through its campaign on website Kickstarter.

Schafer complained that big game publishers weren’t willing to invest in all-new intellectual properties, so he and his team at Double Fine decided to ask fans for their money in order to create a classic point-and-click adventure game.

As we revealed yesterday, this was a massive success and the campaign, organized through donation website Kickstarter, managed to meet and overtake the goal of $400,000 (€301,000) and has now reached a shocking total of $1.2 million (€900,000).

As you can imagine, Schafer and his team at Double Fine are extremely pleased with the outcome, and promise that the extra money will allow them to bring the game to other platforms, translate it into other languages and have more music and voice acting.

The fund raising campaign ends on March 13, so who knows just how much more fans will donate. If you still haven’t pitched in, you can do so at this link.
