Each character will now have primary and secondary classes

Good news for Massive Chalice owners, as developer Double Fine has just released a new update, which brings major changes into the mix. For example, each character will be able to learn two classes, but some tactical balance changes have been made as well.

Let’s elaborate a bit now. The update 0.90 for Massive Chalice brings 6 hybrid classes. Players will be able to take advantage of the following combinations: Primary Hunter / Secondary Alchemist, Primary Hunter / Secondary Caberjack, / Primary Alchemist / Secondary Hunter, Primary Alchemist / Secondary Caberjack, Primary Caberjack / Secondary Hunter, and Primary Caberjack / Secondary Alchemist.

Each of these hybrid classes will have their own unique skills. Although the initial set of heroes will be Pure Classes (Alchemist, Caberjack and Hunter), players will be able to obtain the hybrid classes by marrying two heroes with different classes and then they have a child or adopt one.

The Regent’s Primary Class becomes the baby hero’s Primary Class and the Partner’s Primary Class becomes the baby’s Secondary Class.

Hunter's skill tree has suffered some changes, along with some of Alchemist's abilities

Some tactical balance has been included in the update as well, so those who felt that some items or abilities in the game were overpowered should expect some changes in that department.

For example, the Alchemist Flask Accuracy has been tweaked, so when a player misses a throw, it can end up landing slightly farther away, but with the increased AoE players will still end up with more hits after a miss.

Bees will no longer swarm into their owner’s tile. The Hunter skill tree has been reworked, so the Flarrow ability no longer blinds targets and has increased capacity (from 2 to 5).

A new skill has been added for Hunters, which is called Blinding Shot. This ability replaces the Hobbling Shot skill and can blind all nearby targets for 1 turn in a smaller AoE than the old Flarrow. Hobbling shot has been completely removed from the game.

Performance-wise, Double Fine confirmed the game should now run much better on lower end machines and graphics cards. Several bug fixes have been added as well, but for the full list of changes, make sure you check out the original thread.
