Double Fine, the studio behind the more recent Costume Quest or Stacking downloadable games, is working on a brand new title, which will be based on the popular Sesame Street TV show and is going to support the Kinect motion sensor.

Double Fine Productions, the studio led by famous games designer Tim Schafer, who previously worked on Grim Fandango and other classic adventure games, has been following a new strategy recently, after the lackluster debut of Brutal Legend, a triple-A title published by Electronic Arts.

As such, it launched, with the help of THQ, two new downloadable titles, Costume Quest and Stacking, which have impressed a lot of people.

Now, the studio has unveiled its newest project, and it's quite interesting, to say the least.

The new game from Double Fine will be Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, and will focus, like its name suggests, on the famous TV show for kids, with characters like the Cookie Monster, Elmo or Big Bird.

The game is set to be a "truly original interactive experience,” according to Double Fine.

"It's great to be working with Warner Bros., especially on a game like Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, which brings together so many things we all care about," said Schafer.

"Sesame Street had a profound effect on me, and many members of the Double Fine team, when we were children. So did video games. Now many of us are parents and we want to share with our kids the great experiences we had, but also the completely new ones made possible by cutting-edge technology like Kinect for Xbox 360. So it's a labor of love on many levels."

Warner Bros. will publish the title, and added that, “Combining Double Fine Productions’ talent for making highly creative games and the beloved Sesame Street brand, the game mixes original gameplay with a memorable learning experience.”

The new Sesame Street game from Double Fine will be exclusive to the Kinect motion detection sensor for the Xbox 360, and teach kids to be active and learn many "key life skills."

Expect Double Fine to release the new game around this Fall, but you can enjoy the three screenshots below until then.
