The Xbox 360 Live Arcade will soon give you the chance to play a futuristic type of Dodgeball game, thanks to YUKE'S Company
Limited. The game has already received certification to be released on the Xbox Live service, and it will be available for download this summer for the regular 800 MS points.

Double D Dodgeball will offer a multiplayer mode for up to eight persons (4-a-side matches) and four gameplay modes (Exhibition, Player Match, Ranked Match and Tournament). Also, another "must-have", leader boards, has been implemented, plus two types of dodgeball rules - the Eastern and Western ones.

"With Double D Dodgeball, we've been able to capture the spirit of classic playground dodgeball that we all grew up with, integrate a defined set of rules known in the East and West, and take it to Xbox LIVE," said Ken Koyama, Manager of Product Development at YUKE'S Company of America. "Instead of meeting up on the hot playground, you can go on Xbox LIVE Arcade and blast your friend with ball from the comfort of your couch."

Even though parents would probably prefer you would actually go out on the "hot playground", it seems that this is the future and one thing's sure: there's no pain involved! But you should know the rules before even thinking about playing dodgeball.

The Western type of dodgeball brings the traditional method where two teams square off in an arena separated by a center line. Whenever a teammate is hit, he or she has to get out of the court and only returns when a teammate kicks out an opponent. The Eastern rules, on the other hand, contain an arena with a center line, and an outfield located around the outside of the court. One player from each team will begin in the outfield of the opponent and throws balls at the "enemies". All the players sent out will head to the outfield and will only be allowed to re-enter when they hit an opponent. A piece of cake!
