The illusion makes it hard to focus on specific dots

An optical illusion developed at the National Center for Biotechnology Information in Maryland unites dots moving in a pattern to make an illusion that will have you glued to your desktop for a while.

What you see above are just dots moving in a straight line. However, are brain only allows us to perceive a scrambled, random motion.

You can test this by trying to focus on one dot, which is not as easy as it sounds. You will notice that it is not moving up and down, left and right just to annoy you.

Scientist have documented that the success of the experiment depends on how many dots there are on the screen, as a large number yields complete confusion.

The types of dots also affect the outcome, as does the distance on which they move.
