After a lengthy anticipation, Valve has finally rolled out a brand new update for Dota 2, bringing forth one of the last remaining heroes that haven't transitioned from Dota 1 to the sequel – Techies.

Dota 2 is one of the most popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) titles out there, delighting tens of millions of fans each month with its fast-paced action that evolves many aspects of the original Dota, which was a mod for Warcraft 3.

For quite some time Valve has been trying to achieve parity with the original strategy experience but one key area is still lagging behind – the number of heroes.

The studio confirmed some time ago that the next character coming to the game is Techies, a dynamic trio of goblins with a propensity for mines and explosions.

After first promising that Techies will appear before the end of August, Valve delivered just the details about the update last week, postponing its actual release until earlier today.

Now, the Techies update for Dota 2 is finally available for download via Valve's own Steam service, weighing in at around 527MB.

Besides adding the explosive set of characters, the update also includes a series of much anticipated features and mechanics.

First up, there's the new All Random Deathmatch mode, which is set to bring an element of unpredictability to the online experience.

"It's a fight to the death with an ever-evolving lineup! Each player begins the match with a random hero, and becomes a new hero after every death. But don't wait for your favorite fighter to come along: each team may only lose 40 heroes before their players will cease to respawn. If a team loses all 40 of their heroes, or their Ancient falls, the match is over," Valve explained on the update's page.

A new Gallery of Triumphs section has been added to the game, where players can show off their achievements, and a special All-Hero Challenge is now in effect, tasking players with winning a game with each of the current characters in Dota 2.

Owners of The International 4 Compendium also have new features, including an Assured Victory taunt, a special taunt for Techies, a Battle Glory Killstreak banner, and a new soundtrack for the whole game.

Lots of other tweaks relating to the inventory manipulation possible on disconnected players or those who've abandoned a match are also included in the update, in order to make things more fair and balanced, as well as to avoid ill intent.
