14 DAY TRIAL // The first actual details about the Year Beast Brawl game mode from Dota 2's upcoming New Bloom Festival 2015 event have appeared online, as fans have been able to uncover information from the files added to the Dota 2 test version by Valve.
Valve is currently hyping up the upcoming New Bloom Festival 2015 event for Dota 2, its hugely popular online battle arena experience.
The studio has already shared official details about the new Winter Wyvern hero, as well as the Crystal Maiden Arcana item that brings forth a wide array of customized effects and designs to the popular character.
Year Beast Brawl is coming to Dota 2
Now, the first New Bloom files have been added to the Dota 2 test version and crafty users on Reddit have managed to comb through them and find out the actual details about the Year Beast Brawl, the special game mode that's going to take place in the game throughout the New Bloom Festival this year.
Unlike New Bloom 2014, the new mode is a competitive experience and won't see players work together to take down the giant beast. Instead, they'll actually play with the beast in their team, as it's going to be controlled by an AI. Players can issue it commands like what lane to go to, but besides that, the AI is going to decide what the beast does and will signal its intentions in the allied chat.
However, things get a bit more complex as the Year Beast can be upgraded by spending ability points. These can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, come with the Frost Avalanche Arcana for Crystal Maiden, and can be earned in the game through different ways.
These ways include playing in a match with someone who owns the Arcana, owning the Arcana yourself, or just through recycling items.
The rewards offered to Year Beast Brawl winners include an item set drop, a trophy, and 100 ability points. Losers get just 100 ability points.
It's unclear just how the matchmaking system is going to work in the new game mode, as it might not result in the best experience if a team with just a few hundred ability points is pitted against someone who has several thousand.
