The Glorious PC Gaming Master Race may be full of Adonis-like proponents of games that keep up with technological and software advancements instead of being held down by their monolithic inbred brethren, the consoles, but the truth is that all platforms have their merits.

More than ten years ago, the PlayStation 2 was just an inexpensive DVD player that you could also play games on, and today there are millions and millions of people enjoying all kinds of games all over the world.

With gaming becoming more and more mainstream, there’s little surprise in finding out that star athletes such as NBA star Jeremy Lin is are big fans of games like Valve’s Dota 2.

The professional basketball player and Harvard graduate was recently featured in Valve’s newly released Free To Play movie, a documentary about professional Dota 2 players that extends beyond being a mere publicity stunt for the popular multiplayer battle arena game.

The documentary was a resounding success, registering over 5.5 million views in its debut weekend alone, which is probably a record as far as documentaries go.

Lin’s love for the game is nothing new, and he revealed that when he’s not defying gravity he’s plowing through the opposition with his favorite heroes, Spirit Breaker, Phantom Assassin, Tide Hunter and Ogre Magi.

As a point guard for the Houston Rockets, the gifted Lin spends a lot of time on the road playing basketball, and he said that Valve’s title allows him to keep in touch with his friends and brothers, mentioning that he schedules time for Dota 2 around 2 to 3 times a week.

“To me, my brothers, and friends, we have a group of five that always love playing together and we’ve all been playing together since our sophomore year of high school. So when I say it’s a way of life, it’s more than just a game, it’s a chance for us to play and catch up on life. It’s something that’s been really incorporated into our lives for years and years, consistently, no matter where you are,” Lin shared.

He might have just been attempting to curry favor with the Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey, who recently landed a position on Major League Gaming’s board of directors, but odds are that he was being sincere, as he stated that he got involved with the game before it had a 2 at the end.

The full interview where Lin says that Dota 2 is a way of life is available on onGamers, if you want to see more.
