The update solves glitches for IO, Phoenix, more

Dota 2 has just received a brand new update to fix a variety of bugs that have been around for quite some time, as well as to enable more user-created mods that were eliminated earlier this week through several patches.

Dota 2 has been around for quite some time, with tens of millions of people playing the huge online title from Valve every month. This week also sees the official start of the main event in the Dota 2 Asia Championship, which already has a sizeable prize pool thanks to digital compendium purchases from users.

A new update is now available for download

Ahead of the official start, a brand new patch has just been released by Valve in order to fix a variety of controversial bugs that have been in the game for a long time.

First up, players who control IO should no longer be able to use a blink dagger while triggering Tether to ensure a longer-than-intended tether range. This was already exploited by professional teams in the qualifiers for DAC 2015 and now it seems that Valve is finally taking a stance on it.

Phoenix's Supernova ability now correctly refreshes charged cooldown abilities, so players have even more incentive to get their teammates inside the actual Supernova in order to reactivate their skills.

Weaver's Germinate attack now correctly triggers when it reaches enemies that are very far from the hero, while Riki's Permanent Invisibility fade time shows on the ability cooldown, to help players better time their movements.

Multiple stacks of Linken's Sphere no longer have different behaviors when two buffs are applied to a character. Meanwhile, the Lycan Shapeshift no longer gives all creeps the move speed bonus if the player disconnects during the exact trigger.

A few other improvements are included

Besides these actual hero bug fixes, the latest Dota 2 patch also includes more mods into the new whitelist, such as sound and music scripts, as well as Flash videos. There's also a new option in the Settings panel that reduces the flash for abilities like Zeus' Thundergod's Wrath or all of Razor's skills.

Last but not least, for forgetful players, there's a new convar that disables the right clicks on the minimap.
