Dota 2, Valve's own take on the famous Dota mode for Warcraft 3, has been officially confirmed for the Linux platform.

It's not a secret that Valve has pledged to release all of their games on the Linux platform. So far, a large part of Valve's catalogue has been ported, but there was official information available.

The Dota 2 beta is now over, at least for the Windows platform, but in the same announcement, Valve has acknowledged for the first time that a Linux version is in the works, along with the one for Mac OS.

“Will Dota 2 be available for Mac or Linux? The Mac and Linux builds are currently in testing and will be available soon,” reads the FAQ at the end of the official announcement.

More details about the free-to-play Dota 2 can be found on the Steam website.
