Video game developer Valve has announced that The International Dota 2 Championships 2012 will take place during the PAX Prime event in Seattle, allowing the best players in the world to go up against each other and fans of the game to come watch some spectacular matches.

PAX Prime will take place between August 31 and September 2 of this year, in the Benaroya Hall in Seattle.

Sixteen of the world’s best Dota 2 teams will be invited by Valve to the event and they will be entered into a group stage and double elimination format in order to get the 1 million dollars grand prize (773,600 Euro).

The first Dota 2 event took place in Cologne, Germany during the Gamescom event in 2011.

Dota 2 is set to be launched via Steam before the end of 2012 and will use the familiar mechanics of the Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III while upgrading the graphics and the community options.
