14 DAY TRIAL // After confirming that the new Dota 2 Rekindling 6.82 update is coming soon, Valve has started detailing the major components of the patch, including the overhauled version of the Shadow Fiend hero, as well as its Arcana item set.
Dota 2 is one of the most popular free-to-play titles in the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) genre, with tens of millions of users experiencing it every month via Valve's own Steam digital distribution platform.
One of its most anticipated updates, the Rekindling 6.82 patch, is set to appear soon enough, and after offering some broad details, Valve has set up a special page where all the major features are detailed.
Shadow Fiend has been reworked
One major aspect of the update is the overhaul to Shadow Fiend, which now has a better defined design as well as slightly reworked abilities.
"Shadow Fiend earns a frightful new look in Dota 2, ready as ever to let you turn the souls of the fallen against your enemies. Teach your foes the meaning of dread as you raze their forces to the ground. See them cower as your very presence eats away the defenses of those who dare come near. Feel your power and threat grow as you claim more and more souls, until at last you release your hoard in a terrifying explosion," Valve explains.
Shadow Fiend's Necromastery soul cap has been increased from 12/20/28/36 to 15/22/29/36. Requiem of Souls debuff is now applied when the wave hits units instead of in a slightly smaller area independently, while its slow effect has been increased from 20% to 25%.
The Demon Eater Arcana item set is also coming
The new update also introduces the Demon Eater Arcana item set for Shadow Fiend, which brings forth a wide array of new elements to the hero, including an overhauled design.
"Shadow Fiend has long collected the souls of his enemies. As is the case with any collector, some prizes have stood above others, to be sought out at any cost. However, there are certain souls that should not be tried, and forces so dark and filled with rage that no being could hope to contain them. Thus did Shadow Fiend learn the price, and gift, that comes with stealing the souls of demons, and he was changed evermore."
The item set brings forth a new base skin and model, several fresh animations, an altered voice, new spell, sound, and attack effects, and many other things. Those who buy the Arcana set until October 31 will get the Exalted quality on it.
As of yet, Valve hasn't confirmed when the new Rekindling 6.82 patch will hit Dota 2, but it might appear this week.
