Warcraft 3 is one of the most acclaimed real-time strategy games even seven years after its official release date. The powerful and compelling story behind the game as well as the RPG-infused elements made it a true masterpiece. The game was later vitalized by the Frozen Throne single player campaign but also by the various mods and custom maps it received. Amongst them, one mod stood out so far from the others, so much that it almost became a game in itself.

Defense of the Ancients may not ring many bells for gamers out there, but the more popular abbreviation, DotA, is bound to clear any mysteries. And the designer of this mod is finally getting some recognition from the gaming industry. The incognito known only as Icefrog to the DotA community has announced this morning that he's become part of Valve. And not just as a meager employee, since he'll be in charge of his very own team. What better news for the DotA developer than his very own minions.

The announcement was made through the help of the official Defense of the Ancients website. "I have some really awesome news I'd like to share with you guys. I am now leading a team at Valve! I finally have all the resources needed to do some very exciting stuff that you guys will love. I look forward to revealing more specific details when the time is right." Not exactly an official statement one might expect from someone that is now a project leader for Valve. Still, the gaming community is very flexible in such matters.

DotA fans need not be concerned that their game will be abandoned and end up all alone, with no further support for it. Icefrog plans to stay cool under the pressure and do both things at the same time. “My goal and top priority in the future is to solve the surrounding issues that affect the DotA experience in order to allow it to reach new heights," he explained. "As I've said many times in the past and especially after today's developments, I am very excited about DotA's future!"
