plasq, a small group of passionate developers responsible for stuff like Comic Life, Skitch and Wormhole, has released Doozla 1.1, a state-of-the-art drawing application aimed at children. Kids can use their iSight to capture an image and manipulate it adding color, lines, objects and all sorts of other things. They can also use existing images on the computer or create their very own images from start to finish. A demo of the software is
available immediately.

"Many software programs are overly complicated, with lots of scary looking buttons! Not so with Doozla - the simple interface let's your children draw and be creative within seconds of opening Doozla. Doozla - as simple as using a paper and crayon but digitized!" plasq says.

The tool has four drawing modes: drawing, which has kids engaging in free-hand drawing on a background; coloring in - children add lines and color to character templates provided by Doozla; background drawing - drawing characters and objects into a standard background scene; webcam drawing - kids also learn how to use iSight for creative reasons and then draw on top of the picture they've just taken.

All of Doozla's drawing options provide a guided start, whether children want to manipulate an image, an iSight photo snap, a color-in image, or even a blank page.

plasq says that Doozla's key features are its super easy-to-use interface, the imagination inspiring worksheets, iSight support, fullscreen, zero-distraction view, vector drawing for smooth output and tablet support. All these compiled in one single package make Doozla the perfect tool for children inclined to be creative.

Naturally, plasq is hoping to convince the parents that this is what their kids should be doing instead of surfing the web all day unattended, so if you think your kids have a shot at being different (after all, you did get them a Mac) why don't you tell them to try out Doozla? The demo is free of charge and is good for thirty days, after which a watermark will be added to the obtained images.
