Why? Because John Carmack was getting bored!

What does every normal man do when he finds out that he doesn't like the games from its cell phone? He can either buy another model or he can look for new games.

If he still doesn't like the games, he can choose to play on other platforms.

But what happens when the man in question works at Id Software, developed Quake and Doom 3 and his name is John Carmack? Simple, he creates his own cell phone games.

It seems that he was disappointed by the quality of the games on his cell phone which was given to him by his wife. Carmack decided that although he hates cell phones, a game specifically designed for them wouldn't be a bad idea.

So, after a three month silence, Carmack updated his blog, declaring that he is preparing a RPG version of Doom in which the main character will explore a series of 3D sets.

And since the commercial aspect could not be disregarded, Carmack hired Fountainhead Entertainment to transform the demo he created into a complete game.

From what Carmack says on his blog, he was preoccupied for a long time about cell phone games and the specific requirements these games have to fulfill. Carmack didn't make any comments about the duration of the game's developing or the year when it will be launched.

If DoomRPG is a success it will be interesting to see what other cell phone games will he release afterwards.
