The team at id Software working on Doom 4 says that the video game is still in development, but there are no plans to share more information on the experience any time soon.

John Carmack, the long standing hardware expert, said during his keynote at QuakeCon 2013 that he could not offer new details, despite the fact that the game had been in production since 2007.

Tim Willits, the co-founder of id Software, tells Polygon that, "We have found that long PR cycles don’t help. They’re a distraction to the development team. Your message can easily get diluted if you’re not careful."

He also believes that Bethesda is a good publisher for his team and offers the support to make Doom 4 a memorable experience once it is launched.

The initial announcement for the game also managed to drive more development talent to id Software, mostly fans eager to work on the classic shooter.
