id Software is putting on a show at QuakeCon, telling gamers all about what the future holds for the company. And, apart from Rage, which got a new trailer showing off its awesome graphical quality, id fans are getting a new Doom game.

We have known that the franchise was getting a new game since May, since some job postings were put up for the project on the id Software website. But now the company is officially talking about the game, offering details on how it will look and when it will appear.

Todd Hollenshead, who is the Chief Executive Officer at id, offered all the necessary information on the title by saying that "there will be guns, blood, demons, and gibs." The game got a short reveal trailer and John Carmack stated that it would be better looking than RAGE. He said that Doom 4 would "look like it's built on another engine" even though it would most likely share the RAGE graphics engine, which is id Tech 5. Apparently, the game will run at 30 fps and will require triple the power needed to run Rage.

Id Software traditionally only developed one game at a time, which meant that Doom 4 would only get in true development once Rage was out. But Carmack now mentioned that the company was big enough to develop two games at a time, so we might just be in for a surprise and see Doom 4 launch shortly after Rage reaches the public.

Carmack also teased the audience by saying that "by the time that the next Doom game ships to consoles, PC will be light years ahead of current consoles." So, even if the game is multi platform, be prepared to play it on your PC, with the classic keyboard and mouse setup.
