14 DAY TRIAL // A day after Gwyneth Paltrow announced her split from Coldplay front man Chris Martin, the British publication The Mirror found in its extensive collection a photograph from September 2013 and it shows the actress smooching with Donovan Leitch, a man that so happens was her boyfriend at some point in time.
The magazine went on to theorize from there that Paltrow wasn't exactly the definition of faithful in her marriage, and some of the issues she spoke about in her separation announcement were, in fact, caused be her.
Now, after a ton of backlash from the media and also from the public, Leitch, the man accused of helping Paltrow to cheat on Chris Martin by having a secret affair with her, is coming forward with some explanations to the Mail On Sunday.
Leitch, a 46-year-old actor with stunning good looks, now opens up to Daily Mail about the kiss taken at a Los Angeles baseball match in the stands. “I was just saying goodbye to her. It was purely innocent. We were sitting in the owner’s box in front of 30,000 people with her two children right next to us. That isn’t exactly the setting for a secret liaison,” he claims.
“But the telephoto picture turned it into more. But it’s her. Her life is constantly under surveillance. Gwyneth and I have always been close,” he added, saying their romance was “aeons ago,” Leitch goes on to explain.
Finally, he admits that “I consider her to be one of my closest friends. We have tons of great friends in common.”
Legally speaking, Leitch was also married at the time of the kiss, to Scottish super model Kristy Hume, but was indeed separated from her, in a process that took 3 years to finalize. So, the conditions were there, says the media: they were old partners, both on the rebound and both looking to rekindle a past flame.
But both Paltrow and Leitch have now come forward to deny the kiss, blaming it all on the angle of the shot, adding that it was just an innoccent, friendly, goodbye peck, albeit on the mouth.
Donovan also had only good words for Chris Martin: “I’ve only witnessed a couple incredibly in love with one another. That’s my personal experience. They’re great parents. Their relationship looks enviable. She definitely has a great life. She has a great family, kids and career.”
Now, that this avenue has been firmly closed down, the hunt is back on to find the real reason why long-time couple Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow have “consciously uncoupled” after 11 years of marriage, to the detriment of their two young children.
